jonah turned three in august. so weird that i have a three-year-old. he is energetic, funny, lovable, and kind. we're so glad he is a part of our family and i'm so glad he made me a mother that august day three years ago. we love him.
his party was off the hook! lyla was only about six weeks old and i was not feeling up to cooking dinner for 25 family members, so we "catered." not as fancy as it sounds, but jonah's favorite restaurant is mo bettah, a hawaiian barbeque place. we picked up some teriyaki chicken, pork, and macaroni salad and went with the theme and had shave ice for dessert. our friend brought his machine and i think it was a hit. the party was fun, but i felt like it was chaotic because the baby was screaming the entire time (notice a theme?). she is a good baby, but she doesn't like crowds and she just likes her mama. oh well.
i didn't get too many pictures, but jonah was extremely spoiled by our families and friends. i think he got a present that had to do with pretty much every sport--a t-ball set, golf clubs, basketball hoop, a football. then tons of other great stuff.
he is the greatest little boy ever. i don't get too bored at home because talking to him is like talking to an adult. he says the funniest things every day. i know these probably aren't funny to anyone else, but i have to record them for me.
-the other day, we were in my mom's car and she was talking to me about her friend julie. she said her name and jonah goes, "what's a julie?!"
-we were driving one day and saw the missionaries and i said, "jonah, do you want to be a missionary one day?" he said, "um, no, i just want to be jonah."
-he answers every question starting with "um" or "uh." "uh, yeah." "um, no."
-i was working out today and jonah was doing the video with me. he would go get a drink every once in a while and every time he did, he would say "mmmm! water is my favorite!"
-he has become really friendly lately. whenever we're at the park, he'll go up to new kids and say, "hi! how are you?" when he wakes up in the morning he says "good morning, mom!" over and over...and over and over.
-he is really into the concept of time. he loves to ask me if it is morning time or night time. he also asks me what time certain events are. "what time is libby's soccer game?" "what time is daddy's basketball?" pretty sure it wouldn't matter to him anyway, but he loves to ask.
-he is such a boy. he loves tractors, fire trucks, cars, golf, football, basketball, baseball.
-he finally potty trained a few weeks after his birthday. we tried before the baby came and it was a nightmare. he wasn't ready and he held everything in for like two days, no joke. finally i gave up because i didn't want him to get sick. then after the baby came, he kept asking to go on the toilet, so i got him all excited and he did it in pretty much a day by himself. he has had probably three accidents total and most of them were my fault. if there's one thing i've learned about him over the past three years it's that he will do anything he sets his mind to. when he is ready to do something, he does it and he does it well.
well, there you have it. a little about jonah. he is the greatest.
